AcQuest Depreciation Software Updates

To update the software, download the newest program version from one of the links below, free of charge. If you have previously purchased a licenses key, it will work with the new version of the program.

Our self-serve update policy helps keep the price low, but we cannot promise that updates and upgrades will remain free forever. Changes in tax law, accounting procedures, and technology may eventually necessitate major updating of the program and we may institute an upgrade fee to cover the major change. AcQuest has not established the price of future updates and upgrades, but if in the future there is a fee we expect the cost to prior customers to be less than the cost of the original software.

The current version of AcQuest HQ Depreciation is 2.51.

Update Instructions

Before installing the new version, save a copy of your main data file, dprndb.mdb or ahqdprnd.mdb, to a safe directory on your hard drive. After you have installed the new program version, you will be able to copy your assets from the old data file using the Copy Company From Disk command.

With Windows XP and earlier versions of Windows the dprndb.mdb or ahqdprnd.mdb files is typically located in the same directory as the depreciation program.

With Windows Vista there will probably be two copies of the dprndb.mdb or ahqdprnd.mdb files, one copy in the program directory and the other copy in the Vista VirtualStore directory such as

C:\Users\??????\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\AcQuest Pro Depreciation\ or

C:\Users\??????\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\AcQuest HQ Depreciation\

where where ?????? is the users Windows log in name. The dprndb.mdb or ahqdprnd.mdb file in the VirtuaStore directory is the file that actually contains the data and is the file that should be saved for copying into the new program once it is installed. After you copy the dprndb.mdb or ahqdprnd.mdb file in the VirtualStore directory to another safe directory, you must delete the file in the VirtualStore directory in order for the new program version to install completely.

After saving the data file to a safe directory, uninstall the older version of the program. Use Window’s Remove or Uninstall Programs utilities to uninstall the old program version. The Remove or Uninstall Programs utilities can be found in the Windows Control panel.

Next install the new program version by running the aqdprnz.msi or ahqdprnz.msi file just like you would run a exe file.

After installing the new version of the program, use the AcQuest program’s Copy Company From Disk command to simultaneously copy the data in the dprndb.mdb or ahqdprnd.mdb file to the new program version and update the data structure to work with the latest version of the program. For AcQuest Pro Depreciation, if your old data file has a company with the company number one in it, before using the Copy Company From Disk command, you will need to first delete the example company that comes setup in the new dprndb.mdb file and also has the company number one.

Version Changes

AcQuest Pro Depreciation and AcQuest HQ Depreciation have been updated for the 2010 Sec. 179 limit of $135,000 and the 2010 vehicle limits.
